Earth Day Blog

Today is an important day. Today is the day we celebrate the planet we call home...our very own “Mother Earth.” Also, today we have a chance to introspect the contributions we as humans have made. These contributions may include an increased amount of greenhouse gases and pollution levels. This graph can demonstrate this:

This graph demonstrates the increased levels of carbon dioxide measured in ppm(parts per million) since the ice-ages. The aforementioned information is definitely alarming. Hence, there is something that we should be concerned about. We should also be concerned about the effect of the increased carbon dioxide levels on the ice-melting rate. Take a look at this graph:

The graph above signifies the reduced ice extent in the Antarctic Ocean over the years, and the lowest being in the year 2019. Now, this can be alarming.
You might be wondering why a high-schooler is writing the information that is available online. Probably you might think that this is just for maintaining a blog page. No… this is more than that. I have seen people traveling in cars when a more green option like public transport is available to them. Why do high-schoolers drive to school when they can take the bus? I understand driving to school if you have sports activities or jobs to reach after school. But there are some students who believe that driving to school is “cooler” than taking the tacky bus. While this may be a ridiculous thought process, this unrealistic mindset also contributes towards the increasing levels of greenhouse levels. The reason for writing this is to inspire people to take some measures to protect our mother Earth. Stop littering...take public transport if you can...stop wasting water by repairing leaking taps...going digital instead of wasting humungous amount of paper. Sometimes we take our Mother Earth for granted. We seldom appreciate the fact that there have been billions of years and a tremendous amount of work that has been put into to create a suitable climate for sustaining life. By understanding its importance, I hope you all take some measures to protect our beloved Earth. As they say, charity begins at home, practice some measures to reduce the greenhouse gases and pollution levels.  Have a great Earth day by enjoying some beautiful pictures:
